Judy K. Kaplan, ACSW, LCSW, CEAP, Substance Abuse Professional, is a Clinical Social Worker in private practice since 1997. She has been a practicing Clinical Social Worker since 1982, with experience in hospitals, employee assistance programs and private counseling settings. She works with individuals, couples and families regarding a variety of issues, including addictions, mood and anxiety disorders, relationships, stress management, and grief and bereavement. She is a Qualified Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) and has been providing SAP Evaluations since the inception of the Department of Transportation SAP regulations in 1995. She provides regularly scheduled continuing education training for other addiction professionals who wish to become qualified to work with DOT covered employees and founded the Houston SAP DOT Peer Consultation Group in 2006.

Ms. Kaplan received a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work in 1980 and a Master’s degree in Social Work in 1982 at the University of Illinois School of Social Work in Urbana, Illinois. She is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, with Certification for Private Practice, and is a member of the Academy of Certified Social Workers. She has worked in the field of Employee Assistance Programs since 1988, in both internal and external programs. She is a Certified Employee Assistance Professional of the Employee Assistance Professionals Association (EAPA), and is active in the local organization of EAPA. She has also supervised graduate students in the University of Illinois School of Social Work internship program, as well as undergraduate students at Eastern Illinois University and University of Houston.
